About Us:
We are a friendly, family orientated, dentist & dental surgery in Hexham; offering general dentistry, dental hygiene and tooth and gum care, as well as cosmetic dentistry and aesthetic treatments.
11 Battle Hill is a beautiful grade 2 listed building which was first listed on October 2nd, 1951. The surgery downstairs is bomb proof. This was a requirement at the time the building was occupied by Newcastle and Gateshead Water Company. It’s a 3-storey building with characteristic sash windows. To the right of the main entrance remains the old coach entrance and segmental arch at the rear of the building. The archway is part of the “flying freehold”.
We’ve given it a modern twist with a Tooth Fairy House. “Toothlings” when you arrive at Battlehill see if you can find the Tooth Fairy House!
We are a fully private practice with a small contract for children’s NHS and orthodontics. Our private patients have a few options either pay-as-you-go or join one of our monthly plans.

Practice
A complete range of services for all of your dental needs

Extractions;
Extractions are the removal of a tooth; this is performed by the dentist or sometimes, in more complicated proceedures, an oral surgeon. Tooth removal may be required when a tooth has excessive tooth decay, infections or in some cases for orthodontic treatments, for example if there is a lot of crowding.
Composite Fillings;
Composite fillings are a blend of quartz and resin with the ability to be manipulated or shaped and adhere to the surface of the tooth. Composite provides patients with a filling material that is tooth coloured, extremely strong and durable.
Amalgam Fillings;
Amalgam is a liquid mercury and metal alloy mixture used in dentistry to fill cavities caused by tooth decay. Low-copper amalgam commonly consists of mercury, silver, tin, zinc and other trace metals.
Dentures;
Dentures are removable false teeth made of acrylic (plastic), metal or nylon. They sit snugly over the gums to replace missing teeth and eliminate potential problems caused by gaps. They can be made as either a full set, which would replace all missing teeth upper, lower, or partial which will replace one or a few missing teeth.
Crowns;
Dental Crowns are caps placed on top of damaged teeth. Crowns are used to protect, cover and restore the shape of your teeth when fillings don’t solve the problem. Dental crowns can be made from metals, porcelain, resin and ceramics. They typically don’t require special care over time other than regular good oral hygiene.
Bridges;
A Bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by joining an artificial tooth definitively to adjacent teeth or dental implants. Traditional dental bridge consists of a false tooth or teeth being held in place by dental crowns that have been cemented onto each of the abutment teeth. A Maryland bridge uses a framework of either metal or porcelain that is bonded onto the backs of the abutment teeth.
Root Canal Treatment;
Root Canal Therapy, also known as Endodontic Therapy, is a dental treatment for removing infection from inside a tooth. It can also protect the tooth from future infections. It is carried out in the pulp of the tooth, which is the root canal.
Orthodontics;
Orthodontic treatment is a way of straightening or moving teeth, to improve the appearance of the teeth and how they work. This also helps with the long-term health of the teeth, gums and jaw joints by spreading biting pressure all around your teeth. Orthodontic treatment can be done on the NHS, if under 18 years of age and you qualify, alternatively this is a private treatment. Specialist oral surgery; carries out complicated extractions including wisdom teeth removal. Soft tissue biopsy and TMJ problem diagnoses and advice/treatment.
We also offer the following range of Cosmetic Enhancements

Tooth Whitening;
Lighten colour of teeth in a manner that is safe. We use custom made devices for this (whitening trays). We can change any existing dental work to match the shade of whitening results.
Invisalign;
Invisalign allows you to transform you smile with in a comfortable and discreet way, with virtually invisible aligners which are removable. The aligners are custom-made for each individually patient to gradually move your teeth without any wires or metal. Invisalign aligners look like clear flexible retainers so they can be removed for eating and brushing teeth.
Ceramic Braces;
Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces, but they use clear or tooth-coloured brackets and wire instead of metal. Ceramic braces are an excellent way to create the smile you have always wanted. They are a lot less noticeable than metal alternatives. These are favoured by our adult patients as they are tooth coloured and doesn’t make you self-conscious.
Metal Braces;
Metal braces are metallic in colour both the bracket and wire, these are more commonly used by children. Metal braces are very affective treatment to get your perfect smile. These are an excellent source of treatment for overcrowded mouths. Metal braces are provided on the NHS for under 18 years old if they qualify, alternatively they are also a private option.
Gum Lift Surgery;
Gum lift surgery is a cosmetic dental procedure that raises and sculpts the gum line. This involves reshaping the tissue and or underlying bones to create the appearance of longer teeth, thereby making the smile more pleasing. This procedure is also known as “crown lengthening”. It is particularly done to reduce the excessively gummy smiles.
Fillers;
Face and lip fillers (dermal fillers) are substances injected into your face. They fill lines and wrinkles and add volume to areas such as your lips or cheeks. Fillers are not permanent. How long they last depends on things like the type of filler and where it's injected. They usually last between 6 and 18 months. Most dermal fillers used in the UK contain a natural substance called hyaluronic acid.
BB Glow;
BB Glow is the name given to the procedure which uses Dermapen micro-needling technology to insert the BB Glow serum containing natural nutrients under the surface of the skin. Benefits include: A subtle glow, giving the appearance of healthy luscious looking skin.
